Tina’s Story

Tina came to OSS because, as she would explain, she wasn’t a “bad kid,” she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time in the public high school she was attending.  She had heard about OSS through family members and decided to give it a chance.  Mr. P remembers Tina as “Get a quote”.  After x semesters as an OSS Lion, Tina received her diploma at the spring graduation ceremony.  Today she is still in her hometown of Omaha making waves as a mother of three boys and a small business owner.  She opened her own hair salon several years ago and has tackled running a business much like she’s tackled other things in life.  She wanted to prove she could do it so she does it all herself from cutting hair, to keeping the books, to marketing for new clients.  In short, “I owe a lot of where I am today to Omaha Street School.  I see the staff there as family and know I can ask them for anything at any time.”  In fact, Tina and OSS have stayed connected in various ways since she graduated.  The latest connection?  Mr. P, the first and current Executive Director of OSS, was a recent client of Tina’s.  Mr. P states, “she’s a shining example of a success story out of OSS and she gives great haircuts!”
