National Dropout Prevention Month
Every year well over 500 Omaha-area students drop out of high school, never to graduate. That’s just not okay.
October is National Dropout Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about the dropout dilemma. At Omaha Street School, we’re transforming this crisis into opportunity by providing at-risk teens with Christ-centered education that delivers a 90% graduation rate and the promise of a future filled with hope.

The Omaha Street School Solution
Tabula Rasa: A Fresh Start Every Day
At Omaha Street School, we believe every student deserves a clean slate. "Tabula Rasa"—Latin for "blank slate"—isn't just a philosophy; it's our daily practice. No matter what happened yesterday, each morning brings new mercies and fresh opportunities for students who have often been defined by their past failures.
Transformational Education That Works
Many hundreds of students in the Omaha area drop out of high school every year. Traditional schools have failed these students, but traditional methods aren't our only option. Our approach integrates:
Academic Excellence: Students achieve more than 2.5x GPA improvement through individualized instruction, smaller class sizes, and teachers who refuse to give up on them.
Faith Integration: For most of our students, Omaha Street School provides their first encounters with faith. Through Bible classes, chapel, and prayer, students discover not just knowledge but their God-given identity and purpose.
Holistic Support: We address the whole student—academic, spiritual, emotional, and social needs—recognizing that hungry, traumatized, or hopeless students cannot learn effectively.
Proven Results That Change Lives
The numbers tell a powerful story of transformation:
a 6-fold increase in hope—from initial enrollment to the end of their first semester
2.5x average GPA improvement from enrollment to graduation
78% of our graduates form the last 5 years are employed double the rate of non-graduates
Beyond Statistics: Building Futures
These aren't just numbers—they represent real teenagers who now have real futures. Students who once faced homelessness now hold jobs. Teens who couldn't read at grade level are now college-bound. Young people who had never heard they were loved by God now know their infinite worth. This is the power of education rooted in faith, hope, and relentless love.
