Ty’s Story

Ty came to OSS in 2014 and just recently graduated.  When Ty reflects on her time at OSS, she was reminded of the courage it took to start over at a new school -- and the payoff from that step of courage.  In her words, “I didn’t know anyone.  After I was expelled from high school, I knew I was changing schools, but I didn’t know if my circumstances would change.  I was afraid of being thrown under the bus again and came in with some trepidation.  Now things have turned around for me.  I have a job, which I got even before graduating in December, and I have found a group of instructors who care about me and have my back.  I have made friends at OSS and it feels like family.  Having courage to take the first step gave me opportunities I never imagined.”
